Sunday 11th August | 11am - 12.15pm | £12 or free for Benefactor Members Although living beings have the same basic wish to be happy all the time, very few people understand the real causes of happiness. We usually believe that external conditions such as food, friends, lovers and money are the real causes of happiness and as a result, devote nearly all our time and energy to acquiring them. Superficially, it seems that these things can make us happy, but if we look more deeply, we will see that they also bring us a lot of suffering and problems. In reality, happiness cannot be bought, it cannot be found anywhere out in the world. It can only be found in our own heart. The real source of happiness is our own mental peace. It is time to Choose Happiness! At this special public talk, internationally renowned Buddhist meditation teacher Gen-la Kelsang Jampa will guide us to this peace. This is the greatest gift we can give ourself and those we love. Session times: 11am - 12.15pm | Public Talk 12.15 - 2pm | Lunch 2 - 2.30pm | Historic Building Tour 3 - 4.15pm | Wishfulfilling Jewel with Tsog
  • The Big Question? How to be Happy

with Special Guest Teacher: Kadam Morten

Wednesday 22nd May | 7.30-9pm | £12 or free for Benefactor Members We all share the same wish, to be happy all the time. We were born with it, and our search for it drives us through life. We all find moments of pleasure and excitement, but sometimes this pleasure becomes craving for both people and things. We can become so desperate to satisfy our constant desires, that instead of happiness we experience frustration, anxiety and addiction. The truth is happiness is not something we can acquire from the outside, but a vast ocean that’s waiting to be discovered within us. Based in New York City, internationally renowned Buddhist teacher and meditator Kadam Morten Clausen is coming to Leeds for one night only to give a special public talk answering the big question – how do I find lasting happiness? He will also guide us in meditation so each of us will experience this inner ocean ourself. An unmissable event for the people of Leeds. Everyone is welcome!
